DVD at this moment in time, is a privelige. one day they will be in every home, possibly more than one in each house hold. its the cd player of movies. music tapes and video cassets used to be 'it' but now things are changing into a compact disc world.
what are the advantages of DVD?
they are more durable than video cassets ( or are they? )
crisp, clear picture
cinema quality sound
theres also the extras or special features. these are usualy out takes , adverts, interviews and behind the scenes footage etc. the extras make people who already own the film on video think about and buy the DVD version.i know this is true as i have done it myself i have got 3 films on DVD the mummy, me myself and irene and kevin and perry go large. i also have all these movies on video.
DVD resserects movies. its not just new release that are available on dvd disc, theres really old films and theres kind of old films. many of you have notice that latly i have been trying hard to win film a day, im not trying to win so i can pick a new film like crouching tiger hiden dragon, no im trying to win to get a film from 1988.that film is bill and teds excellent adventure. theres a few reasens why im trying to win this, its a film that both me and my brother love, and its my brothers birthday coming up,and a dvd of one of his all time favourite films will be the best present ever.we used to have it on video but the tape was tageld in my vcr machine and then broke when i was trying to fix it.
retro is in again and DVD supports that as well.some of them retro, old school cartoons like danger mouse have been given a second chance with DVD.
great films. there are some truely great films out on dvd and i want to give a short review on a few of them.

jim carrys latest and one of his greatest movies yet.jim plays charlie who has a split personalty called hank, both sides of him fall in love with the same woman - irene.

adam sandler, the guy from water boy and big dady is back in one hell of a funny movie. sandler plays nicky,hes like any normal teenager he likes to party and listen to rock music,but theres one thing about him thats different, hes from the south ,the deep south.hes the son of the devil.

jurassic park boxset
the dinos are back at the cinema, and your dvd player.
the set includes both the first and second jurassic park movie. also there is a t-rex load of extras including scenes of jp3.

i could go on listing loads of the great films out there on dvd, and i will:
men in black
the matrix
terminator 1 and 2
mission impossible 2
traffic
crouching tiger hidden dragon
xmen
and hudreds more.
now earlier in the post, i mentiend dvd discs being more durable than video cassets, they both have their advantages and dissadvantages :

so in conclusion
dvds are great because of extras, picture quality, sound, bringing back old and classic films aswell as retro cartoons. and probably the best thing about them is film a day.
