Well i love his album, and would recommend everybody to get it. But i have heard people say he is rubbish. This is not true, Like Mr Neil said in the forum (LIVE):

'I haven't seen Badly Drawn Boy live but apparently he does stand up, cartwheels, plays punk versions of his songs. Many people have slagged this off, but it sound like something fun to me. You aren't just paying to see the music, but an act aswell!'

Have your say is Badly Drawn Boy, Good or Bad??????

Listen pal, i just hear the music on the radio, i don`t care if thats an individual or a group, and to me alot of modern music is constantly ripping off from source material already done miles better by the original.

And since Badly Drawn Boy is obviously down to just ONE PERSON, then all i can say is he should quit now and take up a meaningful existance being employed at his nearest Burger King outlet...

I would ask your age, because if you really do like Mr Goughs work then you can`t be old enough to recognise where and who from he`s actually styled his music on.

Just beware that all that glitters is not gold....!!

I think he wanted to refuse the nomination but the record label wouldn't let him due to the increased sales that come as a result of having that Mercury award winner sticker on the album.

Good point about their music and not just the cartoon characters but I still think the Mercury awards are stupid mainly because they lead me to believe that the Badly drawn boy album was good, which it wasn't, and that cost me £13.99, and I was displeased.

I hope he is giving all his profite to charity then?

He is being nominated for the bands music... not because it made up of cartoon characters...

I hope you are being sarcastic about that Mercury Music prize bit. Gorillaz have been nominated for that award this year despite being set up by Damon Albarn primarily as a stunt to show his lack of respect to the music industry. Gorillaz are a cartoon band set up as a way of protest to the manufactured music industry which the Mercury awards celebrate. So why nominate a band for an award when the band is basically ripping the awards and the whole industry. They obviously don't know what they are doing and therefore the award defies itself really.

And I don't like Badly drawn boy.

I think hes definitly one of the most original main stream musicans around at the moment...

Its good to see a musican, on prime time, kids TV, whos doing his own thing...

not following the pop trends of Steps or Hear Say, N'Sync, etc...

... or the numetal, alternative etc scene...

alternative sounds
(who all seem to sound the same... and who all sound like they came from the early ninties?)

I'm not a big fan myself... I just think its good to see some individuality :)

No no no no no no. For a start, Badly Drawn Boy isn't a band, it's a person, Damon Gough. And secondly, he isn't imitating other bands at all, his album is one of the most original debut albums I have heard in years. I don't think the Mercury Music Prize would have gone to a band who 'imitate other bands', would they?

Badly Drawn Boy... more like Illegible Scribble!!!

Another totally useless band trying to imitate other better bands.

Sorry, they suck bigtime either live or dead...!!!
