Just to note that Andrew Hunt gave me the idea to write this:

The music industry really has shoved a foot in it's mouth. What it thought was right has actually turned out to be a very, very wrong decision.

Unless you've locked yourself up from the world for about a year, you should know what this is about - Napster. Not that long ago Napster lost a court battle against a majority of the music biz and was barred from enabling ripped or illegal file sharing through it's servers (things like Eminem and Britney). Napster, however, was still allowed to operate, but only as long as it's users own music was transferred, and nothing else.

Obviously nobody liked this concept, and left the Napster community - I was one of those people. "Where will we all go now?". Many people then caught up to this idea, and many Napster spawn were released onto the net, programs such as SongSpy, Audio Galaxy, and WinMX. They all work in the same way as Napster did.

So this is where the music industry gets it's foot. They thought they had finished all illegal free file sharing by banning Napster, but all they did was make it worse. Now there are lots more of these programs, and it will take longer, and will cost more money to shut them all down. IF all of the current ones get shut down, which I very much doubt, even more will pop up, more and more and more...

The solution then? I reckon Napster should be repoened. Because of the huge popularity of Napster, everyone using the smaller ones now will leave them, running them out of business. If I really like a track of music, I will go out and buy the CD. I really only used Napster to 'test' music, and to get tracks before they are released here in the UK - why dont those big music companies realize this?

Thanks for your time,
