So what am I complaining about? The "entertainment system" and the future of it as the Sony Big-Wigs are talking about.
Sony Bigwig : "Online gaming blah, blah, future etc, £200 for a Hard Drive"
Me : "What the hell? £200, you're having a laugh after I shelled out £300 for your console!"
Sony Bigwig : "Oh and £35 for a modem, plus a connection fee or monthly line rental if you want broadband"
Me : Dazed
Sony Bigwig : "Oh and due to the Internet sites being different shapes to your current TV you will also need a Sony screen"
Me : "Right, pass me my gun"
And you get my point.
How could you possibly do that? Out of principle I would be physically sick if I had to tell my customers that they needed to pay that much just to keep their PS2 at the forefront of gaming, for Gods sake I like Consoles over PCs because once you buy it that is it, no extras just games.
Its really a complete money grabbing scheme and frankly it disgusts me. The little kids who persuaded their hard up parents to buy a PS2 for them will now have to grovel for yet more things and the parents will be faced with crying children or a hole the size of the Grand Canyon in their wallets.
This is not right, in fact it sucks, and what are we getting for our cash eh? Not much by the looks of it, wow you can play against other people over the Internet-"But I have real friends Mr Sony Sir". Complete tripe all of it.
Money grabbing gits deserve a buring down of Sony HQ with all those fat businessmen in their armani suits smoking Cuban Cigars using a £50 note as a light.
I really despise this blatant rip-off disguised as a revelation in console gaming, Pah!
You know where you can stick your revelation Mr Sony!
I must admit the second option looks a bit rosier though.
This way you will not need to pay unnecessary money if you do not want to access Internet with your PS2.
Mind you I dont really know whats going on with that HDD so I am a bit confused.
:)

haha I'm 6"1 and love the bike but to be honest i just don't use it and refuse to see it lie around and rust.
When the PS2 launched, I was under the impression that the Hard Drive and Network Adapter were combined, and would cost around £100. I thought that this price was reasonable.
But now Sony are selling them separately for a combined price of £240. By Christmas you will be able to buy a PS2 for that price. It is far too much for customers to pay, (not including the extra expensive broadband connection fees and monthly charges) and I don't think many people at all will buy it. XBox will probably retail at £199 with an 8GB hard drive and modem (someone please let me know if it is broadband or not).
Sony will match that price with their console, but you will still have to pay extra for the (although a lot larger) 40GB hard drive and Network adapter.
So to really *match* XBox's price, Sony will need to price the PS2 at £99, and the HDD also at £99.
I can't see Sony doing this, so this could be a reason that the XBox *may* catch up to the PS2 in terms of popularity.
It is now up to Sony whether or not they want the online aspect to work or not, by the pricetag they put on the HDD and Network adapter. Too high and it will fail.
I really hope it doesn't fail and that Sony realise what they have to do.
I grew out of my BMX dammit, it looked a bit weird when a 6"4 lad is riding about town on a small bike. I liked that bike as well :(
i do however have to sacrafice my GT bmx just to afford the thing arrrgghhhhh.
and Sony sent me another PS2 memory card by mistake so that'll save me £26 haha
My advice - wait for offical news

Yeah thanks I will, just fancied a rant and this was in my mind.
PS-In no way, manner or form does jd endorse the torching of Sony HQ, by all means take a call of nature in their armani suit pockets but never burn down any building...except Bill Gates House. :D
2. The £200 price tag you mention is UNCONFIRMED and has been mentioned in one PS2 magazine. You can ge 40Gb HD's (the size Sony will be providing) for £99 from SR. Bear in mind that you won't *only* be buying a HD in the Sony package, but also an interface unit (there's no IDE on PS2), and an OS/interface upgrade for the thing to actually work. That said, £200 is a lot of money, and I don't believe Sony can afford to release it at that price. It won't sell well, and they want it to for their future online plans.
3. I'm unaware of any details being confirmed yet, but you won't necessarily need the screen for web access. Some sites don't display well on a TV because of the resolution - hence SR have a special TV version of their site for Dreamcast/set-top-box users.
My advice - wait for offical news and pricing!
