I was browsing the Argos catalogue and I came across the following guitar on page 585.

Encore Electric Guitar Outfit.

Laminated wood contoured body. Featuring three single coil pick-ups. Rotary volume and two tone controls plus 5 way selector switch. Includes Kustom 10 watt RMS amplifier featuring one input, volume, gain and exclusive variable tone control and overdrive switching ablility. Instructional video. With strap, QT11 Qwik tune tuner, set of strings, plectrum, lead and carry bag.

All for the wonderful price of £149.99.

I need a few questions answered first. What band will the guitar sound like? Is it worth it?

I hope to get it for christmas. My birthday is in 10 days, so I should get about £30-40. If I can get about a third of the price, then they might be willing to shell out the other £100.

Thanks in advance.

Most bands use electric guitars, all have their own

If you are just learning to play the guitar I suggest that you buy an acoustic guitar as they are good for learning the basics. Also buying a second hand one may be better to begin with as its cheaper and if you realise its not your thing you know you havent wasted all your money.
