I'm not stupid enough to open that thing (my policy is that anyone stupid enough to open an attachment like that deserves to get a virus) I just can't figure out a way of getting OE message rules to stop downloading it. Deleting it's fine but I get around 6 megs of that thing every day and it takes ages.

yep , my dad got a email virus on his laptop a couple of days ago , it made his email clog up and everything went really really slowly , so he spent 7+ hours that day trying to fix it , he bought the maccafe thing and talked to a helpline guy , it scaned 100s of thousands or files and found 15 infected ones so my dad used the clean button on the maccafe thing and they were all gone ..... FEW !

turbonutter, get some avti-virus software
Norton AV with virus defs. dated after 17 july will protect
against W32.Sircam.Worm@mm

Golden rhino. Use a FireWall with Anti-Virus software.
Also try and stay away from MSM Massanger, AOL Messanger and
ICQ. As these programmes provide hackers etc. an easy open
port into your computer. When browsing the Web only give
your E-mail to companys' you trust. If you go to a "iffy"
site and they want your E-Mail it is usually for Spamming.
Never open attachments from E-mails you don't recognise.

If you have "dogy things going on" as you put it, you may
have a Trojan on your PC. Go to the LockDown 2000 web site
and download the trail version of their software. Run the
programme to scan your PC for Trojans. Alternatly you could
go to the Norton web site and do a On-Line scan. You can also get Norton to do a test of your FireWall to see if it is setup correctly.

(Norton aka Symantec)

There's another new virus going around.

It's called Sircam32

Here's a link to info on it:
