I just wanted to say thanks to everyone here for the response to my band.
I haven't promoted us here or talked about it, simply because I don't want to use public forums to appear as if I'm selling myself. I would be the 1st to attack someone if they did that and I'm not a hypocrite.

I love playing music, it keeps me sane, the same way that some people play games, go to the pub, whatever it is that you do as a hobby. It never occured to me that I might be able to make living out of this, but it's becoming more and more likely each day.

We started off with our 1st gig last September to about 9 people (including girlfriends and mates) and we've now gone to playing to 250-300 people each time, and we don't know most of them. It's just a weird feeling that people are taking time out and spending money to come and see us play.
That doesn't happen to people like me, that's what I do - I go and watch bands play, not the other way round.

Our best gig so far?
December 2000. We played Sound in Leicester Square, headlined that venue. This is a venue that has since hosted Muse, Embrace, The Stereo-Mcs next week...and we played there. Such a bizarre feeling, this sort of thing doesn't happen to geeks like me.

People come to see us, want to talk and buy us drinks, tell us how cool they think the music is and how much they enjoy watching us. There have been photographers a couple of times, and someone videoing us when we played The Barfly..and we don't know them.
I can't explain how...odd it is to have someone taking your picture and you don't know why or who they are.

I really wish I could be all Rock Star about it and just shrug and say "Yeah, so what?" but I can't. I feel like a kid in a toystore and I'm loving each and every single moment we do this. THAT's why I posted our link here, not to show off but to just get people to listen. I can't believe that anyone would take an interest in us, but it's nice as hell that people do.

Like you guys, you said some really nice things and it means a lot. We've had knocks and snide comments, it's expected but when someone likes what we do, it makes you feel proud.
Cheers, and I mean this seriously.
We had a German couple come up to us after a gig at The Barfly and say "We heard you on Xfm and wanted to come and see you play, we enjoyed it a lot",and they have come to each gig since. These are people that take time from their evening to watch us play, just as you took the time to download our song and comment on it.

When we played The Barfly, we headlined and were given our own dressing room (a little cupboard out back) and before we played, we said to the soundman "Someone has left beer and water back there."
He looked at us like we were dancing bears and said "Yeah, that's for you. It's your rider."
Eh? Someone gives us free beer and stuff, just because we're playing?
This may happen all the time, but this is just me and the boys...doesnt make sense.

That's what is so weird about all this, it's just me, Chris, Scott and Rob. We rehearse in Southend twice a week, I post crap in this forum and make stupid jokes about farts and stuff.
But all of a sudden we're getting calls from record companies that want to meet us and take us to lunch?
Er...ok...why?

I just know that I get onstage and hit things, my boys play their stuff and I have a big stupid grin on my face.
I look out past the lights and see people singing along and bouncing up and down and they all have big grins as well.
Parker may amount to something, we may not.
All I know is I'm loving every single second of playing with my boys and whatever happens, I've had some fantastic gigs, strangers sing along and like what we do.

If anyone is thinking about starting a band, do it. Please, I've played for over 10 years with no real intention of making a career out of it. But now it looks like things are starting to happen?
Fantastic. Imagine winning Gameaday every single day without posting anything, just someone saying "Here, have this"
That's what it feels like and any band that complains it's hard work or tough?
Rubbish, it's the best feeling in the world to play music and have people like it.

Whether it's selling loads of records or you guys digging it, that's more than I expected.
Cheers lads, I am genuinely happy at the response.

ROCK 'N ROLL!!!!!!!!!
And, just for fun, here are the lyrics to Mrs Jones.
It's about not sneering at people and making assumptions on those you don't know. (something this forum doesn't do)

MRS JONES

Does she talk outloud when she's on her own?
Mrs Jones and her mobile phones
What's in store when she gets home I wonder?
Does her make up take her long?
Does it hide what's going wrong?
Does she sing into her curling tongs I wonder?

How I wonder why do we try?
Why do we always judge one another?
Why does it have to be one or the other?
When you realise see through someone else's eyes
And not mine
Do you find the time?

is he this or is he that?
2.4 and a bowler hat
Looks pretty good from where I'm sat but I wonder
The gold and silver that he wears
We all stare but does he care?
Is he apples?
Is he pears I wonder?

How I wonder why do we try?
Why do we always judge one another?
Why does it have to be one or the other?
When you realise see through someone else's eyes
And not mine
Do you find the time?

I don't mean to presume
But you don't help yourself

I agree with the goat, being in a band is the most uplifting thing ever! I love every second of it!

I really feel that we might get somewhere too, our own songs just reflect cool blues funk, for the Pop age.

We going into recording studios properly this summer. Grix has heard us, and approves (don't you?) so...

Heh, who knows, next year I may be famous Mr Neil.

Let's just wait and see.

I was going to say something deep and meaningful in reply to this, but I can't think of anything.

So I'll say this instead:

Keep rocking Goaty! Remember us when you're rich and famous, pop on here every now and again when you're touring the world.

AND GOOD LUCK!!!
