I tend to spend £300 on a computer gaming system for more than one game. But people always have spent so much on a system - look at the PC market when Doom came out. People were spending £1500 on 486s just to play it! Come on, that's a bit too far-fetched!
When I was deciding whether or not to buy a PS2, I was looking around at the current and future game releases, and I wrote down which games I would probably buy for the system, as and when they came out. I thought as it is a new platform, if there are 10 games which I would spend £30-40 on, then it is worth it to buy the console. This is the list I generated:
CART Fury
Crazy Taxi
F1 2001
Gran Turismo 3
ISS 2000
NFL 2001
Max Payne
Metal Gear Solid 2
NASCAR 2001
NBA Live 2001
NHL 20001
Quake 3: Revolution
Ridge Racer 5
Silent Scope
Unreal Tournament
Wipeout Fusion
16 games, for a new platform? That is incredible. You might look at the list and say I am a bit of a sports-sim freak, but I don't care, these are the games I was looking forward to.
So please, can we have a few more discussions about the other 99.9% of the PS2 market? Just don't write messages to everybody who uses a PS2 telling them what they already know.
Cheers.
PS// I saw some people playing 6 player GT3 the other day, how amazing is that!
Gran Turismo 3
Metal Gear Solid 2
Quake 3: Revolution
Wipeout Fusion
Those are the ones I agree with, but I would also add:
Jak and Daxter
Final Fantasy X
The Getaway - hopefully as good as "the one that got away"
Dark Cloud
Devil May Cry
SSX Tricky
Twisted Metal Black
+ All the usual others...
