With the Iraq inquiry in full swing, a lot of information appears to be coming out & a lot of bandying around, such as Blair agreeing with Bush that Britain would support the invasion ‘in principle’. And at the end of last week, front cover of the guardian newspaper “Blair – I would have invaded anyway”.

And this article: Blair's sycophancy led to the war

However, consider this – Britain has a ‘special relationship’ with the US, what do you think would have happened had we not gone in and America still had; it seems likely that we would have had to go in anyway but underneath NATO.

Do you think the special relationship would still be as strong?

What would have happened had we not gone in, hand in hand with the US?

Do you believe that, due to America’s already willingness to proceed, whether or not we it was necessary to ‘assist’ in the invasion?

Where as its difficult to say war is right, I think under the circumstances it was the right thing for the UK to do. Iraq was a long term problem to which the US wanted a solution. They were always going to invade. They had political and strategic reasons for doing so, the WMD fiasco was just an attempt at putting it in terms they could convey to the public.
The UK's choice was whether they wanted to leave the USA isolated or not. I think the last thing the world needed was another isolated super power.

theres never such a thing as right or wrong. Only good and bad. Frankly it was a war we didn't need. Yeah, saddam was a bad guy and was probably asking for it. But there wasn't much reason to attack him.

Although that said, perhaps we made lots of mistakes afterwards. Although most of them were because of the americans miscalculations.
