I was asked by an RPG called Mytheon (MytheonGame.com) to be a beta tester. Does anyone know what I would need to do? Have you guys tested games before? Not sure if I should do it or not.
It does depend on the game being tested. I know of some alpha builds that were virtually unplayable. Beta builds tend to be more stable.
Of course, some games are in constant beta testing away from the main game, like MMOs.

I've done beta testing for small game based companies before, but there wasn't much of a problem with the games they made, they were already pretty solid.
I'd say that's more Alpha testing. Beta testing is generally just playing the game and reporting if you "happen across" an error.
Although to be honest our opinions are pretty moot, as it depends on the company giving you permission to test their game. Their game, their rules etc.

I've done a bit of beta testing before and the job basically entails finding bugs and reporting them. In a way, you are trying to break the game so others can't in the future.
If you do go and test it, don't treat it as a free ride. You are there to do a job and I've seen plenty of people play a game, not report bugs and then complain when the game isn't available because they are patching it.

Unfortunately no idea. Beta testing means just that, testing.
Generally they just want you to play the game. And report anything that you find wrong.
Did some "Alpha" testing once, and they gave me specific tests to carry out. Was fun.
