As this is the Future of Gaming topic I thought maybe I should post something that does concern the future of the Industry. Thats us the gamers.
Without people buying consoles and games their would be no industry. So the only way for the likes of nintendo and sony to be succesful is to create good products for us to want and then to buy.
As you know the PS2 is out and it is succesful at the moment. Soon the GC and X-Box will be out and they should also sell well. now this isn't a console wars topic. For compititions sake lets hope they all do well. But as we are talking about the future what will happen after these are released?

Most consoles have around 4-6 years before they are replaced by a succesor. Nintendo have been in the game from the start and by now have a large fan base. So no matter what happens with the GC we should see at least a few more consoles from them after the GC has had its time.
Sony have stated that they are working on a succesor to the PS2, probably called the PS3 for obvious reasons.
But the one we are unsure of is microsoft and the X-Box. It obvious microsoft are looking to branch into games with their own console to make money. I recon if the X-Box isn't as succesful as they hoped then we wont see a second attempt. Maybe microsoft will bring us something new or will they just replace the likes of sega and atari?

Whatever happens in the next 2-3 years we know the future beyond that is promising for gamers. Maybe new console developers will come, maybe some old ones will disappear. As long as people like you and me keep buying games and consoles this industry will keep producing the goods.

I dont agree with you on this one. You only buy what you want. You wouldn't buy things unless they appeal to you as a person. I don't imagine you would buy lipstick because it is a latest product or a special type of hair removing cream for your legs. Its all about personal choice. If you like the product you buy it. If the developer makes a poor game then you won't waste £35 on it just because it is new. If this was the case then you would buy every game and console out at the time.

with the x-boxs specs i think it can remain an advanced console for a very long time. the specs are far better than the PS2 and Gamecube, so maybe with the extra time it will spend on the market we might see a larger selection of games. i know high specs dont necesarily mean great games but i think with the bonus of time and loads of cash this box can be a success.

Coo post. What people fail to realise is that, as with anything commercial, it is the buying public that controls the industry - if we suddenly stop buying games the industry should collapse. With this in mind, linking to Edgy's topic earlier, it is definently fair to ask the most of developers, who need to keep us happy.

Over the years I've become very jaded after many bad experiences with customer services, you have bucked the trend. Polite and efficient from the Freeola team, well done to all involved.
