I've been wanting to get a PC that won't have any trouble running tomorrows games- and smoothly at that. But i don't really know very much about PC's and how they work, All I really want a PC for is so that I can play games-not much else. S0 I was just wondering if any one could help buy telling me what sort of things i'm goin to be better off looking to buy. I was looking to spend round about 400-600 pounds>>>Thanx

With that budget you might be able to get an ok gaming PC depending on what you buy. The best thing would be to get a decent CPU and at least 1Gb of RAM, then also get a decent graphics card a 9800 Pro can be had for £150 so this will do. So on a CPU, RAM and a Graphics card your talking £400 for 1Gb RAM, XP3200 and a 9800 Pro. So then depending on what else you want eg DVD writer, monitor then your not going to have much left. You could go for a cheaper CPU and try and overclock it to save some money, but it depends on whether you would want to do that or not. A XP2800 is about half the price of the XP3200 and could easily be overclocked to XP3200 with a decent heatsink.

I would say that if you want to get a decent PC with a DVD writer, large hard disk/s a decent case, decent PSU, monitor etc your talking £800. If you do want a decent gaming machine make sure you dont get a cheap £50 card.
