Basically I want to know what you guys think about GT3's appeal to gamers who haven't been in to racing games before. Is it 'arcade-like' enough that it doesn't get too involved in the technical details of cars (of which I am completely ignorant).
Obviously the graphics are second to none and from what I've read the gameplay is excellent, but most people who write p/reviews of GT3 are fans of the genre.
Thanks.
You do need to know a bit about technical details, but not much. If you're not a gear ratios man, don't buy any gear kits as it really messes you up. Just ask Khazar.
It's a shame, as the original GT came with a driver's manual with all sorts of information on that kind of stuff, as well as cornering techiques, grip limits, racing line and inertia drift. It was very hefty, and took me about 2 days stuck in a hospital to read. Afterwards, the game was a lot easier. I think GT2 came with something like that but it was no-where near as hefty or interesting.
But this game is awesome. It'll last you ages and thats the only game I am playing at the mo despite having Formula 1 2001 which is a great game too.
Gran Turismo mode is were the main game is. You have to complete tests to increase your skill and to gain entry to more races.
You have £18,000 to buy a car which isnt alot you can buy a Beetle a Yaris or a few other milk float type cars.
I dont think you will get bogged down with stats as all you need to know is whether its 4WD, Rear wheel Drive e.t.c. The BHP, weight and a few others. Most people know this even if they arent into cars or racing games. You dont really need to set up the car either as you can use the same settings on all the tracks and still win. Setting up the car can be better but not neccesary.
When you have your car you can buy upgrades, for example a New Exhuast or a uprated Turbo, or even new suspension. Its not technical just buy it and fit it.
If you do buy it and have any questions I know there will be a few of us on here that can help you.
