Ondigital has been renamed to ITV digital but does that make it better oh nooooo,We bought ondigital for a year for £80 and had the choice of 6 channels,we then got all primary channels kinda.

Ondigital judders ALL the time and is very iratating,it's to do with the signal or sommin they explained i think but imagine watching a programme "and the award goes to CLICK CLICK CLICK".

if you subscibe to the channels you only get some half of the day and don't get the extras like mtv2,boomarang,nick jr,disney jr, The remote doesn't respond easily and can crash the box and the teletext is slow and crashes.

Remember the advert for ondigital where they were going like mad because "everyone" was buying them haha the real truth is over 3 quarters of their member's cancelled their membership so the boxes were being returned.

The choice of channels is poor and contain more adverts than programmes.Sky on the other hand have a whole range of deals and offer loads of channels and great a service.

on the plus side the david letterman show is ITV2 exclusive which isn't availible on sky but i warn you itv digital is flat broke and has gone downhill from the very start.

For £100 installation Sky will give you a free box and dish then you get 30+ free to air channels like boomarang with NO further costs at all.

at the launch of onview it said the first so many numbers that ring get a free onmail set so i rung and they said yeah we'll send it to you, never came the cheap Bugg*rs hahaha we already had one anyway.

ITV2 is a free channel, had less adverts than the pay ones and excellent shows like David Letterman (watched every night) CLASS and not availible on sky!!!!

I've used both Sky (which I currently have) and OnDigital...

The bonus with OnDigital is convience... I can unplug the box, take it into my bedroom, replug it in and start watching it immeadiatly...

Sky TV however is plugged directly into one TV, (you can buy an extension cable for 25 quid, but that is kinda a quick fix) ...

Equally if you ever want to move house then all you need to do is unplug the box, shift it to your new house, plug it back in and your away...

Sky TV however does offer a FAR wider choice... and for the same amount fo money...

The best example, for me are the movie channels... With OnDigital, I used to be able to get (this is a couple of years ago now) Sky Premier and Sky MovieMax... However with Sky I get Sky Premire 1, 2, 3&4... Sky Moviemax 1, 2, 3 & 4 and Sky Cenima, TCM, etc...

Its Choice Vs. convience

RE: Ö=ResŒvilfan=Ö

I have had ITV/On Digital for over 3 years now. I agree on some of your points. ITV Digital does suffer from Interference but they do offer an arial upgrade at the subsidised price of £40 or do what I have done and get an Arial booster for abbot £10.
As for the programming, yes there are not as many channels as SKY Digital nor are ITV Digitals channels shown 24X7 as are most Sky Channels. A point you also missed out was the fact that some channels like Sky One on ITV Digital cannot always show the same programs as SKY Digital or Cable. This is to do with television rights for Terrestrial and Satellite/Cable. An example was Sliders, I think the BBC must have owned the Terrestrial rights so Sky could only Premier the show on Sky Digital/Cable.
Your other point regarding ITV Digital and subscribers. ITV Digital have an extremely high churn rate (amount of customer not renewing expired contracts) and they also have about 30,000 digital box's in "limbo". Limbo refering to prepaided box's not being sold by ITV Digital and then not being activated. The reason these box's are generaly not activated is because of the huge amount of people using ilegal viewing cards, which with the right cheep equipiment can be manafactored at home. ITV Digital is howerver not going to disappear but "simply struggle on"

ON the side of your argument is what I personally believe. Who wants 50, 60, 70 Channels of TV? I saw an ad for SKY Digital yesterday in the paper comparing a top of the range SKY Digital Package to that of a top of the range ITV Digital Package. Both packages cost £34 and obviously the SKY Digital package had more Channels. BUT unless you WANT all those channels is SKY better?
In one word NO! If you want lots of movies and or Sports channels and you don't mind paying for the privilege get SKY Digital. If like me you enjoy some Television and would like a little more choice than 5 Channels then ITV Digital is Perfect. I watch/enjoy the following channels E4, SKY One, MTV, PLAY and Nickelodeon. I got all those 6 channels for 12 Months (and freebie channels ITV2 BBC Choice etc)plus SKY Premier and SKY Movie Max for 2 months and Film 4 for one Month for £100 or £8.33 per Month (CHEEPER than TV licensse!). Now at the time If I had wanted a simular package with SKY Digital it would have cost me £40 Instalation and £16 per month 0r £232 for 12 months Of cause I would have recieved extra channels and services but for the extra channels and Service that I would not or very raley used it would have cost me £132 more and I would have had to pay extra for Movies!. Now ITV has put it's price up to £120 per year and SKYs Installation for none £34 packages is £70 mining 12 months ITV Digital is £120 (Inc 3 Months of 2 Movie channels)or £10 per Month. SKYs comparable package is now £262 or £21.83 per month (No free movies).
In the end it's all about choice and it does get me angry when people continually sl~g off ITV Digital. If I wanted to Watch an excessive amount of TV or if I really Enjoyed Movies or Sports and wanted to pay excessive amounts for them then I would Go to SKY. If I want a few extra channels with not as much programming time sometimes un-watchable interference but Extremely good value then I'll stick with ITV Digital. After all there is more to life than Television.
