At £28million pounds, he is an incredible amount of money, but everyone seems to be getting towards this figure – the transfer fees are spiralling out of control, and who pays for them? We do! TV sponsorship, ticket prices, merchandise, kits etc – we’re the people who have to pay the price.
But anyway, Man United have signed a top player, breaking the British transfer fee record, only after it was broken by Man United, previously, for buying Ruud Van Nistlerooy from Dutch side PSV Eindhoven.
Man United have mountains of money, they’re the richest club in the world, although it seems as though Real Madrid will never run out of cash – they’ve gone and broken the world record transfer fee yet again, buying player of the year, one of the most fantastic footballers of all time, Zinedine Zidane. Just £48million!
A squad of Zidane’s could be ‘worth’, and I use the word loosely, worth £1billion pounds (going by 1000 million to the billion). Amazing, scary, and insane. All these things, but Madrid are probably going to win everything possible to win, so maybe it’s worth it for them.
More Transfers? Arsenal have been busy – a free for Sol Campbell, although wages and a signing on fee will mean he’s on £20million in four years. They’ve gone and bought Francis Jeffers for around £10million, Giovanni Van Bronckhurst from Rangers for £6million and Richard Wright from Ipswich for a similar fee.
Transfers are getting out of hand, but will we ever see the first £100million player? I hope not. Football is going way beyond inflation, it’s madness, and so I can only give the transfers 2 stars. It helps clubs, and wrecks others.
The transfers are escalating way above the rate they should be, it's a sad fact, a sad issue, but money makes the football world go round, and the division is happening. Welcome to the European Super League.
This means a end to big transfers (well any over 30 million that is).
What annoys me the most about all this is the huge amounts of money for transfers and wages. Especially when there are so many problems in 3rd world countries and so many homeless people in Britain. Football is no longer about being good at football, it seems to be about who has more money.

Veron is a world class player and I agree, he will be playing almost every week, as long as he stays injury free.

At the end of the day though, all football fans do not mind paying so much money for things involving football.

Real Madrid had one of the bests squads last season, but they didn't win the European Cup. Zidane could be the person to make Real the best team in the world for definite.

I enjoyed reading that Amazon and I agree with a lot of things that you have said.
