As for the cricket itself, it's no surprise that Australia are so far in front. They are a class apart, it's men against boys. I really couldn't see any Englishman getting into the Australian side ( and that goes for Darren Gough too although, being a Yorkshireman, it pains me to say so). The problem stems from a lack of desire from youngsters to play cricket. The game comes a long way behind football in the popularity stakes and needs a successful England team to breed enthusiasm into the game. Of course, this just creates a chicken and egg scenario. Success breeds success.
Look around in parks and fields during summer months. The only children you see playing cricket are Asian boys who seem to have great enthusiasm for the game, probably brought about by hero worship for the likes of Wasim Akram and Waqar Youniss who have been great ambassadors for their country. The future of English cricket probably lies in the hands of resident Asian players.
Another problem to the game is the continuing emergence of more couch potato activeties such as the internet or games machines. Children seem to prefer simulated sport to the real thing these days. Having said that, i'm sure that the internet and Playstation 2 are just as popular in Australia, so how do they keep producing these great players? Whatever the secret is, I don't think they'll let on just yet. They're good for a few more years Pommie bashing I bet.
I'll never forget my dear, late Dad telling me how we used to beat the Aussies and that we should never lose to them because we invented the game. Well, I say we invented the Aussies too so we should take some of the credit ( or blame )!
Sorry Cobber, only joking.

So not a cricket fan then. After every 6 balls a different bowler has to bowl from the opposite end. This means the fielders have to change positions. Now would you really like to watch players change places after every over? No, not really. They don't always show adverts between overs either. They sometimes review what has happened or something else to do with the current game. Also by showing adverts Channel 4 is getting money so they can pay for the rights to show cricket. It doesn't bother me, it gives me the chance to get something to eat or drink.
