Look at the scene with the T-Rex chasing the vehicle in JP. Surely it was only able to track them thanks to Jeff Goldblums smell.
It appears that he was even smellier in The Lost World, with raptors not being able to attack him without first taking a moment to compose themselves. The raptors were ruthless for most of the movie, taking people out before they got a chance, but what happened when they went after Jeff?
They'd jump out in front of him then stop dead in their tracks and hiss at him, as if to say "Man! Do you ever hum!" then they decide to attack anyway. By then of course smelly Jeff has already made his escape.
Maybe he should have been in Plant of the Apes.
Damn dirty ape!
