This post isn't here to offend anyone. Its only my views and if it does offend anyone then I apologise.
What Im really going to go on about is the amount of games that also include options that allow disabled people to play them.
Im going to focus mainly on deafness and blindness. I know there are a wide variety of others but Im going to concentrate on these.

Firstly blindness, When I first thought of this I thought there is no way blind people can play games and as far as I know there is no games that claim to allow blind people to play and enjoy them (if you know any could you let me know) Most games if not all require you to look at a screen and input controls to move your character/vehicle/object. So I guess it near to impossible to ever create games for blind people.

So what about deafness. There are alot of games which have subtitles, but im not sure if these are put in to allow deaf people to play or just to allow people to understand whats being said. But should the option be there for all games to have subtitles. Most consoles use DVD's and most DVD movies allow different subtitles in different languages so could the same apply to games?

What I want to know is your opinion on disabled gamers, and Is there a place in the market for them and if not then why not? Should developers do more to allow more diabled people to enjoy gaming as much as others?
I'd like to hear your views.
Thanks for reading. AliBoy

surely it would be far worse to suddenly go blind? If you are blind from birth u don't know what you're missing I guess and get to adapt better.,,

Anyway, all to often games mags answer questions from deaf and disabled people by saying what amounts to: "We're very sorry you're deaf". Also annoying for death people is the way they are patronised by the mags, being spoken to as children... maybe if the mags actually had some sort of symbol to show a game was easy to use for deaf people?

To be born blind would be my biggest fear. Purely blind I mean, like the pitch black darkness blind where you can't find anything. Think about it. You'll never know what a tree looks like, or even your fellow humans. I don't want to think about it really.

Unfortunately blind people will almost certainly never be able to enjoy games like Quake 3, Gran Turismo 3 et al, but I do agree that if a game is heavy on speech or even includes foreground speech then it should be forced to have subtitles as there is no reason I can think of to choose not to include subtitles. Especially as many deaf people would be able to fully appreciate the plot of such games. I am all for improvements in games which widen access and allow people who have disabilities to enjoy them as the games were intended to be enjoyed.

I remember saying something about this once and found out that many companies promiced to put the option of subtitles in their games... can't remember which ones though.
