This would give the Smaller teams who may be constantly held down in lower divisions by team dropping and rising the following year. This way the third division team would have there league status to fight for and the conference teams would have more incentive to invest in better quality players. The main inspiratiion for this was when I was thinking o Rushden and diamonds (one of my favourite teams if you hadn't noticed) who just escaped the conference after several 2nd places. Had rusden been rewarded with a play off earlier they may have gained a well deserved league place quicker. Not only would this benefit the conference teams but it would also impove the general quality of lower league footballs as the better conference teams could gain positions in the third Divsion as some of them are better than some of the teams already in the third Divison. This is a really unfair situation and is one that I hope the FA will remedy in the future to improve lower league football which is suffering enough with the new transfer regulations which will soon be implemented.
