RAM helps when running multiple applications, it provides more space for your programs to use for fast access, rather than resorting to vram on the hard drive. If you're only running 1 game and nothing else, then adding stupidly large amounts of RAM wont help - it'll fill up what it needs and leave the rest unused.

I'm not a good person to ask about how much to buy...I've bought over 1gb of DIMMs (1152mb I think..), but if you need RDRAM then you should probably go with less - it's faster to access anyway, and costs a bomb, especially in comparison with standard DIMMs.

How much does RAM effect you playing games on the computer?

Does it make it quicker etc.?

Also.... how much RAM would best to buy?

dimms are fairly recent all new pcs are fitted with them.
Simms are older some pcs that have been sat on shelves for a while will have them fitted.

If it's a fairly new computer (about 4 years I think) and SDRAM DIMM at 100mhz should be fine.
