I know that pretty much all of you are more up-to-date with the games industry than I am so I want to ask for your collective opinion: Should I go for an X-box, a Gamecube, or should I stick with my PS2 and spend the money on more games for it. This isn't necessarily about which console is better(although that is what it boils down to), but about the pros and cons of each one.
Thanks for your opinions.
BTW please don't post anything like "Get a GC because nintendo rule" or "don't get an X-box because Microsoft suck" because that isn't very usefull
Fire away!
PS. I own a PS2, but right now I have dusted down my faithfull SNES to do some retrogaming.
Wait until the other consoles come out, if they release a game that is an exclusive that you must have then buy it, however before such a game comes out be content with your PS2. If you want some more variety you could always pick up a Dreamcast, its more pocket friendly.
As you already have a PS2, you will be in a good position to judge it when the alternatives come along. I'm sure that you're relatively well informed as to what games are available for the PS2, and what games are on their way.
If, when it comes to Spring there are still plenty of PS2 games available that you want, and plenty more in the pipeline, is there any point in changing?
Of course money is an important factor in this. Can you afford more than one console?
What you really need to look at are the games that are coming to each system. Personally I think that the GAMECUBE has an awesome line-up of games that have the potential to please gamers of all ages, such as Pikmin, Luigi's Mansion, Eternal Darkness and Resident Evil 0.
If the Xbox has games that appeal to you (it doesn't to me) then fair enough, will you be happier with an Xbox?
To be honest, as you already have a PS2, I wouldn't bother to replace it as soon as another console is released. As long as your PS2 is keeping you happy, you may as well give the other consoles some time to take off, and see if either deliver the kinds of games you want to play.
