Looking around various websites, checking out the latest games to be announced for the latest consoles, I see plentiful and vast experiences to be had. But are we always waiting for tomorrow?? You typical gamer today is always looking at what will be around tomorrow, and not what is here and now. Fair enough if you re on a really tight budget and can only get one machine, but does that mean you have to miss out on some brilliant games, in the hope that a better game will come out in six months.

By now you may have guessed where this is headed. And before anyone picks on me, I amn't saying everyone should buy a PS2 as it is the only home console still in production. But even when you look down the GAD list, you see pre-ordered games left right and centre. What about now?? Sure the future consoles will all be online, and oh, MGS2, Mario and Project Gotham are due out in eight months time. But what about now, and yesterday, what did you do then?

I bought my Playstation 2 at release, and bought the games which were poor in graphical quality, and which were no more than tarted up PSOne games, but did that make them any less good?? I'm sure a lot of people waiting on the Gamecube have N64s, what have you been doing whilst you have been pining for the next Nintendo console? Twiddling your thumbs, or playing some of the best games from the past few years? If you look at the games which have been released for the N64 recently, there have been a few really playable games on the go, so why are people arguing about games which havn't seen the light of day outside of trade shows? The Dreamcast has also plummeted in price recently, if you want classic arcade gaming, get one, now. Stop thinking about saving up for a console in eight months, or getting that little extra cash for a PS2, figure out what you want and just do it.

I don't see the point in starving yourself from your hobbie for eight months for the next best thing. If it is games you want, and you have a console, get playing it now.

I came to this view after a few days of scuffling over specs for the brand new consoles and hacking and slashing my way through Onimusha. We can argue forever about how good the Gamecube and Xbox are going to be, or even if they will be better than the PS2. But until you are sitting playing the games which you want to play, then you are missing out. I am content with my PS2, as I was content with my N64 right up until the day I traded it in. I am also occasionally found playing that Dreamcast, with games like Crazi Taxi 2 being quite fun.

Fair enough there may be a future of gaming, and this may be the forum for it being discussed, but before we go wading into another arguement, take a look around your game collection, and think, what am I playing now? What am I playing it on? Am I satisfied with what I am playing? And, if I amn't enjoying what I'm playing now, do I really want to wait eight months to be happy?

Good post Bonus. Of course, as a PS2 owner I don't have to wait for my wonder console to come out, and I am never waiting for the next game because I am never bored with the pne I've got at the moment.

I agree too, since iam a nintendo follower, i have been waiting on the gamecube since its first rumours started. However when it was pencilled in for release next year, i thought it was a long time to wait. So in order to remedy my hunger for good ninty games, i have went on a mission to find cheap and good quality games on online auctions. Those auctions really are a gold mine, and you can pick up the classic games for next to nothing. Im watching an auction on cannon fodder on the SNES, that game is magic. Im also tempted to get a NES, but the P&P that the sellers are charging is a real killer.

I must agree with you, Bonus.

I am not going to just sit down and wait for MGS2 to arrive. I must play games now. Luckily, I have some really good games to look back like Dead or Alive 2 and Onimusha.

Good post, Bonus, and well put.

Over the years I've become very jaded after many bad experiences with customer services, you have bucked the trend. Polite and efficient from the Freeola team, well done to all involved.
