Was having a big clear out of my room today, and finally decided to throw out my collection of computer mags that I didn’t need...all 12 years worth. I was amazed to be flicking through mags i bought in 1992 when I was about 7! I have always made a point of keeping them, and they have all been stored in the bottom of my cupboard, until now.

Was really weird flicking through them. They pretty much marked my progression through my gaming life. The early mags were for the Nes, moving up through to the Snes and the Mega Drive, then to PS1 and finally to PS2. It was also strange looking at the content of the mags, seeing up and coming classics being reviewed. One game I remember really looking forward to was Theme Park on the MD. Brought back alot of memories reading them.

Also, it doesn’t really hit you how much you have spent on mags till you see them all in a pile. I had over 200 here, ranging from prices from £2:50 each to £5. Thats alot of money spent.

I don’t buy that many mags anymore these days, in favour of the net, but it was sad in a way to throw them out.

Still, its saved me some space.

....I'll fill it with my collection of Sheff Wed programmes now...

I used to hoard all of my old computer mags too, not 12 years worth mind. Now that I have a PC I just buy Gamesmaster, and the odd issue of PSM2, and I just throw the old issues out every month now.
