Halo 1 was lacking this feature, and they said that they wouldn't release Halo 2 'til it was ready, so maybe that's what they've added?

And it's true. All these press people were playing the game at E3, but from reading the articles on various websites, none picked up on it.

Its probably just so you can get a screen per-person.
