A good example is 'The Matrix' is had thousands spent on it, it had famous celebs (Keanu Reeves), BUT the odd thing out is the directors (The Wachowski Bro's) who were not really known at all untill they made the story and directed 'The Matrix'.
It is possible to make a box office movie with a low budget and unknown actors and actresses. The thing is, it's to much hard work for the directors and producers to do.
I think it is great to see new faces in new movies, instead of the usual Tom Cruise, Nicolas Cage etc.
The Money - Well thins is a different matter, it all depends on money for the movey to be a hit. $1000 pounds won't go anywere with todays films, that would barely pay for the catering at the set. The usual price for a top movie is about $200 000+.
'Shawshank Redemption' and 'The Green Mile' were both two amazing movies. I think this because of the story lines, both stories written by Stephen King. Know this is starting to edge over into the popularity side. I would say the most important thing out of all the things I have mentioned is the cast. With todays movies it is really just a big popularity contest. During the past two years the main people involved in the contest were Keanu Reeves, Tom Cruise, Russell Crowe, Julia Roberts and Tom Hanks.
So as you have just read these are the inportant points to remember to make a movie!
./Steve
1)Some great actors who are not bigheads.
2)A great sound track like the one on Bridgit Jones's diary
3)A snazzy title
4)A decent plot
5)it helps if it is funny unless it's a horror.HA HA HA
6)And last but not least if it stars David Arquette it has to be good!
7.action
1.the name
the name has to relate to the film,as well as catch peoples eye,and be easy to remember.
2.the plot
a straight forward predictable plot is rubbish, what you want is a rollercoster of a plot, you think you know whats happening then it twists.
3.actors
if you have a big name actor like mel gibson on your roster,it will bring in more people.
4.laughter
every film needs to make you laugh comedy or no comedy.when you laugh you feel happy and relaxed.
5.advitising
the more advertising,the more viewers.
some films im not thinking of seeing at all, then i see an advert and my mind changes.
6.special effects
almost every film has special effects of some sort these days,if they dont they look and seem boring.
these are not in any order.
