Cult Horrors you may like (and probably won't have heard of)

People Under The Stairs -

http://imdb.com/title/tt0105121/

Like a modern day fairytale set in an 80's ghetto. There's never a dull moment and it's seriously original for a movie that uses the old formula of having a load of people trapped inside a house.

The Serpent and The Rainbow -

http://imdb.com/title/tt0096071/

A zombie movie with an original take. It's always nice to see a zombie flick that succeeds in telling an interesting story whilst managing to be interesting with it.

Death Machine -

http://imdb.com/title/tt0109575/

Part-action part-horror this entire movie showcases the excellence that is Brad Dourif. His character is one of the best characters ever created in film as far as I'm concerned. Genius.

Evil Ed -

http://imdb.com/title/tt0116247/

Swedish splatter movie referencing various horrors. Like the other movies here this really is something different. Absolutely not run-of-the-mill fare it's something horror fans will enjoy for it's refreshing approach.

The Tower -

http://imdb.com/title/tt0108371/

A mild sci-fi horror that's simple and entertaining throughout. The dialogue's good and despite the simple idea it never sags anywhere along the way.

The Keep is an excellent recommendation, enjoyed it a lot.

I'll also throw in a couple more of my own :

Near Dark - one of the best vampire flicks I have ever seen

The New York Ripper - Cult horror director Lucio Fulci at his gorey best

Guinea Pig, Flower of Flesh and Blood - Some people thought it was a snuff movie, but it isn't. Still, a brutal depiction of how the human body can be used as canvas.

Men Behind the Sun - Set inside a Japanese biological weapons plant during WW2, this is not for the faint hearted.

Well going back to good ones that might've gone under people's radar:

Switchblade Romance is great.

And I may as well mention The Dentist, I think there's a sequel as well... I've only seen clips, but that just looks totally awful as well, doesn't take much to work out how this guy manages to kill people, does it?

The Killer Shrews deserves mention as well, in terms of really bad horror films, this being a rather strange film from the 1950s where mutant shrews are played by dogs in suits!

I saw a bit of that one night, they were walking down a hill and people just gawped at them until they themselves were slaughtered -something like that.

Very bad.

I was channel surfing on saturday night after Match of the Day had finished, and on Zone Horror or some other free channel, managed to see part of a movie called Maniac Nurses Find Ecstacy. Sadistic nurses who murder people at an isolated clinic for their own sexual gratification or something... it was awfully written, and incredibly strange, but nevertheless strangely compelling as it was so laughably twisted (and had plenty of, er, nudity.)

Not reccomended unless you have a very twisted sense of humour. Why reccommend it? It stuck in my mind, and it was just so bad I couldn't help but laugh... and feel rather disturbed too. Rated 1.8 on IMDB!

And it's Belgian. :S

The Tower used to be a yearly thing on ITV.

First Three, yes, I've seen them. The Serpent and the Rainbow is a favourite.

Also, The Keep is another good one...
