It could come in useful one day.
It is really complicated, and not entirly efficient, but you need to make around 5 different porous layers. This should consist of stones, sand and moss (if available) you then need to make it into a freestanding structure, using sticks etc..and you will need to make a base, again the best method would be sticks. But you should try and find a freshwater supply before relying on this, as only around 10 drops saltwater are converted into 1 drop freshwater.

Well, if you are in the desert, you can actually make water by digging a hole, putting a cup in the center of the hole, and stretching a raincoat over the hole. Or you could simply cut a hole in a cactus and drink its contents.
