Game Critics presented their nominees for the best in "Electronic Entertainment Expo 2004" and Game Critics' awards are considered as the most important for they are voted by 25 international sites and TV stations in The United States Of America, and these are the nominees for this year ( The awards are going to be announced in June 8th 2004).

I'm actually looking forward to the next Def Jam game. The first one was pretty good but the story was the same for each character, which let it down a lot.

Putting Halo 2 above HL2 in the list doesn't mean that they are indicating that it's better, they aren't arranging them from best to worst, they put them there randomly.

Don't know if they were at the show but if they were i can't believe Star Ocean 3 or Dragon Warrior didn't get a mention in the best RPG category.
