Okay, a bit limited, but much fun all the same.
And definitely a candidate for Most Beautiful PS2 Game Ever. Absolutely stunning.
Roll on the full game.
> So, other than graphics, what are the actual improvements?
The graphics are the most noticeable improvement on this package. Other than that, the handling is more responsive, and it gives you a taster of the gorgeous all new tracks. The driving school is also pretty challenging in its own right.
Driver AI also appears to be improved - they don't just corner in procession now, there was a right tussle in front of me at the first corner yesterday - though I haven't spent much time on the actual races yet, so there could be more than that... I've been on the driving school.
The rally sections - at least in this cut-down version - are also purely against the clock... no second car to beat. And, of course, "some of the crowd are on the pitch".
Yes, the full game is going to have much more, but it's a great taster.
Fair enough, for those who see it as just a demo, it's not an essential purchase - but for the fans of the series, it's well worth it.
Had they actually bothered to read the front of the box, which basically says it's just a game full of driving tests with a bit of arcade action then they wouldn't be so disappointed after playing it.
It's basically something to tide people over until GT4 finally arrives and gives you a little taster of the graphics and handling of the cars.

Well worth the money, in my humble opinion.
5 all-new tracks to race on, and a decent selection of cars - once you've unlocked them by doing the driving school, which is fun in its own right.
The Grand Canyon rally course is awesome to drive, and looks great in the replays. The crowd on the track taking photos and then running to the barriers as you speed towards them adds an extra sense of realism, to.
My personal favourite is the Citta di Aria course, though - a tarmac rally course, which is very tight and gives an incredible impression of speed - and is absolutely beautiful in the replays.
On the whole, it's looking much better than GT3.
And with any luck, having done the tests in Prologue, I might be able to skip some or all if they're in GT4! :-)
