Here I sit beside my Nintendo 64, as it cougths out it's last games, I will get the poor systems final games Tony Hawks 2, Paper Mario, Mario Party 3 and well that's about it.
At the start of this year I felt the N64 was still booming, Conker, Banjo, Excitebike, Star wars: Battle for Naboo and Pokemon stadium 2.
Yet when I heared Indiana Jones had been canned in this country I noticed even THQ who had kept the N64 alive for those extra six months at the start of this year had given up on this lost soul. Nintendo try (and succeed) to take are mind off our dying friend with the GBA but they like everyone know the the N64 is at death's door after producing (shock horror) a bad game in the form of Dr Mario, desperate to make the N64 seem more alive.
So there I sit beside the bed of my favourite console ever, waiting as the impending doom of the system grows ever closer. I think back to the days when I waited for Zelda Majora's Mask to come or Perfect Dark to finally get a release date.
But it was those breath taking games that made me love this system and although it's future is bleak it has set the groundwork for the Gamecube which will live in memory of its older brother. So there I sit not letting go of my contoller and I know that when this console can go on no more I won't be the only one to shed a tear.

It is still spring but it is heavily rumoured to come out in Febuary and the X-box is may.

As probably the most out spoken Nintendo fan from the earliest days of this site I have to admit the N64s future is looking a little bleak. All though their are still classic games which you can revive there are few titles in the works and it is the gamecube which is the future. Although the N64 is losing it a bit its legacy will live on with many of its top titles being brought to the gamecube in the form of sequals. I personally look forward to games such as Perfect Dark 2 or Smash Brothers Melee which are followups to true classics.
The N64 has been shakey (no not the Welsh singer of the eighties) for a very long time now, and I doubt that many of the remaining games will get released here.
Paper Mario might get released, but the original Super Mario RPG Legend of the Seven Stars never was, so I doubt Nintendo would have any problems in keeping that one from us too.
Mario Party 3 would be selling to too small an audience to make it's release worthwhile, so I don't expect that either.
Kirby 64 has yet to be released here, and I doubt it will be.
It's sad, but all things must come to an end. There were plenty of good games on the N64, and I hope to pick up some that I missed to keep me going until the GAMECUBE is released. If not I've got a few games in my collection that need a bit more attention too!
A lack of third party support was Nintendo's problem, and this came from the N64 being so very different from the SNES. Developers didn't know how to make the N64 do what they wanted it to do, due to poor support from Nintendo.
Nintendo have learnt from these mistakes, and have made the development tools more user friendly. They've also sat down with developers and let them know what the GAMECUBE is capable of, and how to get the most of it. This should cut down development time, and help the developers to make a profit from the GAMECUBE. If te platform is profitable, then they'll continue to support it!

For the N64 was dropping slowly onto its knees when it launched, it stood proud when it was uplifted by Goldeneye and then a year later Zelda, without some of these crucial games this console would have been dead and buried easily by 1999.

Wow N64 rules but i have to face it it is slowly slipping away...
Yeah see whatcha mean it LOOKS old!!! At the minute I have a PSone I look at it and the games compared with what you have now!
I also have an N64 and a SNES pah how many more games does this have left, but it has had some real stormers, and they will stop development after 2002 of N64 games!!
I also have a DC what the heck happened here, the games are great but what the heck happened to the DC did it happen over night or sumin!!
My GBC only just recently has this become old news but still is alive and running with plenty of games and plenty of them being made.
So next year in the UK around May time the GameCube will launch its dayview, a lot of us will pre-order and get it on the day, some will have to wait a week till they can get their hands on it, but I will wait until about the end of june or mid July to get mine a couple of months after release, at least then I can say I got mine a month after release or so.
But some of the games for this console will probably better the PS2 by far, and with the Playstation 2 being as good as it is, and not having reached its full potential yet (personal thought) in the standard of games could probably bring out some awsome games to match that of the GameCube.
Which is why after selling my Ps2 a while back near christmas because of constant breakdowns I will be purchasing my new one about a month before my GC.
So you're right compared to whats on offer now our previously owned (should I say) consoles are dead and pathetic but still great fun to play, I am gonna sell my Psone just before I get my Ps2 for extra dosh towards a memory card and another game along with selling 4 other PSX games that I rarely play and keep about 5 that are good, and keep my chipped Playstation too!
My N64, old but not an easier descision to sell as the PSX partly because of the lack of being able to play N64 games on a GC, but I am gonna sell most of my games and keep my Zelda ones, CBFD, Jet Force Gemini and Mariokart and Super Mario and sell the other 15 odd!
So in a way they seem old to us when we compare them to newer things which is obvious and they have been out for a good 5 years or so, so most PSX owners, consoles should be packing in soon if they bought it on release.
But too us they don't seem old and are still great fun to play, it is just knowing that there is something much better out there to play and do! And only partly because you know that you've had it for years!!
