Best of show: Sony PSP (mobile gaming system, Sony Computer Entertainment).

Best original game: Donkey Kong Jungle Beat (Nintendo for GameCube).

Best PC game: Splinter Cell 3 (Ubisoft Montreal-Ubisoft for PC).

Best console game: Halo 2 (Bungie Studios-Microsoft for Xbox).

Best peripheral-hardware: Sony PSP (mobile gaming system, Sony Computer Entertainment).

Best action game: Halo 2 (Bungie Studios-Microsoft for Xbox).

Best action-adventure game Splinter Cell 3 (Ubisoft Montreal-Ubisoft for PC).

Best fighting game: Def Jam: Fight for New York (EA Canada-EA Games for all console systems).

Best role-playing game: Jade Empire (BioWare-Microsoft for Xbox).

Best racing game: Burnout 3 (Criterion Games-Electronic Arts for PlayStation 2, Xbox).

Best simulation game: The Sims 2 (Maxis-EA Games for PC).

Best sports game: Madden NFL 2005 (EA Tiburon-EA Sports for all systems).

Best strategy game: The Lord of the Rings: The Battle for Middle Earth (EALA-EA Games for PC).

Best puzzle/trivia/parlour game: Donkey Kong: Jungle Beat (Nintendo for GameCube).

Best online multiplayer: Halo 2 (Bungie Studios-Microsoft for Xbox).

Rocky isn't as good as many other boxing games Tekken is gone accept same for fight night really.

The most shocking thing is how the sublime Half-Life 2 missed out on all of its nominated awards, and was beaten by the severely disappointing Halo 2 on several occasions.

madden is clearly better than any other sports series maybe minus pro evo. and seeing as pro evo 4 wasnt at E3, madden has been rightfully selected as the winning game.

If you know anything about American Football then you would know the Madden series represents the excitement of the sport more than any other game represents their sports. Pro Evo comes bloody close and it's a close call between the two but my vote goes to Madden.

Also Gran Turismo is classed as a driving game not a sports game. 'Tis a difference
