do you think game companies should start to focus on the playstation1 games more or stick to the ps2?

The original Playstation is just to popular at present to be ignored by publishers. Sonys redesign of the Playstation to the smaller PSONE shows the companys commitment to their machine, I would expect the machine to have a steady flow of games until at least 2004...true the big games will be on the Playstation2 but every company needs to test their programmers on an entry level machine first.

As an entry level machine the Playstation will be around for a while yet, and although it may be seen as a youngsters console it has enough variety in the games available to satisfy anyone...well at least until they can afford to upgrade to a Playstation2, GameCube or Xbox.

i think they should concentrate mainly on the ps2 (as it is clearly the better of the two consoles and is the future of gaming). i think that they should continue production for ps1 for maybe another 18 months and by then most ppl who own ps1's should have upgraded to ps2. i think it would be very unfair to leave out the ps1 at the moment as there are stil so many ppl who have them as their main console but i think that by 18 month the price of a ps2 will be low enough for most to upgrade to it. (or maybe they just buy a gamecube instead?)

Well I've got a PS2 but I still buy some PSone games, having sold my Playstation four years ago ( why oh why did I abandon Sony for Evil Gates ???? ) Its right that increasingly the games for PSone are for the younger age range which seems stupid, I mean okay so the PS2 is an expensive console but boht PS1 + PS2 games are similar i some respects on price ( 29.99-44.99 ) Admittedly not many new PSone releases are 44.99, like none I think but what I mean is that the price of the actual games is very similar.

Traditionally this time of year is a dull time for games, PS2 being a slight exception because it is marketed differently to the Psone and is stil establishing a user base.

Now I don't read much about PSone anymore but I don't see the lack of games is any worse than that on other formats at the moment. Even Ps2 is only having a few titles at a time when it needs far more...hopefully xmas will rectify that situation ! Oniumsha is good but woefully short :( One of the star games that looks good is Syphon Filter 3 which I saw on Game Network this morning. I suppose a PSone owner will have a different aspect to this but as a PS2 owner I still like Psone games and buy them.

I see no reason why developers shouldnt develop games for both formats. The Playstation is still a very popular machine and capable of some very impressive games for example ISS ProEvolution2, ResidentEvil 3, WWF Smackdown 2 etc..

Myself Ild like to see more of the Japanese games that never got released over here grace the UK Playstation. The Original Onimusha looked great on the Playstation, but want released on our shores.

Ild also like to see more games along the lines of the Resident Evil games. Alone in the Dark A New Nightmare and Evil Dead Hail to The King have only recently been released for the Playstation and both games look very impressive....Lets hope theres more to come :-)

The PSone releases are now aimed at younger gamers because thats it's main audience, but I do think developers should move on to the PS2.
