The story is centered around a young boy named U-1 aka Gitaroo man and his talking dog Puma(pronouced Pooma). After learning to play his instrument/weapon U-1 must stop an evil gang who are plotting to to steal all the Gitaroos and take over the world. (It's from Japan).
Gitaroo Man features a very unique way of playing and a very creative combat system which has you following a beat line with the analog stick and timing presses to execute musical attacks. For defence one must unleash vast numbers
of button presses at incredibly high speeds and it is very easy to mess up, but don't worry that only adds to the frantic fun.
Instead of a licenced soundtrack, all the songs were produced in-house and I must say they were very well done. There are many rememorable tracks spanning genres from pop to jazz and each incorporates a different style of play.
The game features a few modes including duet mode which can be played with a friend via game sharing, theatre mode where you can watch all the in game videos and juke box where you can listen to all the games catchy songs.
The game starts easy and to finish this game you must be a button mashing gaming god. This one isn't for the kiddies. Trust me. the only fault I can find with this game are that it is a bit too short but it will take you a while to finish all the levels.
Overall this is a unique gem of a game and if you ever happen to see it in a shop, I suggest you buy it or else you shall be missing out.
Creativity 8/10 Original concept but is essentially a PS2 port.
Longevity 7/10 Not too many levels but I'll send you a cookie if you finish it.
Audio 9/10 Brilliant soundtrack with many catchy songs.
Graphics 7/10 Bright colourful but nothing incredibly special
Gameplay 9/10 Extremely fun to play if a little difficult to pick up.
Total score: 80% Very Good
