I was just wondering who remembered the great games company Apogee before they split off into 3D Realms. They made the great Commander Keen that just rocked and the original 2D duke nukem that was serious fun.

I think they also made some kids' games in the early 90s- I can remember playing some of their products when I was about 6 years old and thoroughly enjoying them. Proper platformers, not those crap learning games that are made for kids nowadays.

Apogee, woo, they made one of the greatest/goriest FPS of all time. Rise of the Triads. Mint game that.

People go, \"Ooo you can posses a dog in that new Nintendo (or something) FPS\" and they think it\'s an original idea being a dog. Well in Rise of the Triads you picked up a power-up which changed you into a dog, and you ran around mauling people to death. hehe

The game was best played with extreme gore mode turned on mind. Then arm yourself with a rocket laucher, and watch people explode rather nicely when hit. Bits of their bodies would fly all over the place in one of the best examples of a particle system in a game. Body parts would fly towards you, eye-balls dribble down the screen, and bit of their body would rain down a few seconds after they\'d been hit.

Yeah, I remember. I also enjoyed Duke Nukem 3D by 3DRealms, but the series went downhill from then, and I can't see honestly why they're still working on Duke Nukem: Forever- I just can't see it being any good.
