Looks like the next console war could be a bloody one. Sony are introducing the Cell processor and the spanking-new Blu-Ray media format, Nintendo are pretty tight-lipped although never fail to impress and Microsoft are aiming for a head-start this time with their G5-based machine.

Good because: Each company is going to have to pull something mindblowing out of the hat to impress the punters.

Bad because: It's going to cost me a lot of money!

They can't possible not have some large storage device. It'd be insane.

Well there was some sort of deal struck with a company called something like M-Tech or whatever. MS realise that the hard drive was a great idea and was extremely flexible. Perhaps they'll leave it out, but if they do the memory cards will be in gigabytes as opposed to 8 megabytes. Because otherwise it would ruin the content downloads for the next Xbox.

Flash memory is on a chip rather than a disc, therefore making it smaller. It'll be similar to the style used in MP3 players and camera's although they would bump up the price of the Xbox 2 an awful lot.

I don't see MS putting a hard drive in.

But I do see them putting a rather large flash memory drive in...

Knowing Sony, it'll go the same way as the PS1&2. It'll be the last next-gen console I buy of the three, but I may have to get it if there is something worth buying it for.

Personally, I'll be going for Microsofts machine first, then Nintendo - but those two are definite purchases.

Well unfortunately for Sony, I shall be going for Nintendo first, then when I can afford it, the next Microsoft offering.

Sony may release a good console, but I can't afford to have three running at once.
