When asked what it was the head of NOA said 'think about it'.
Well some people did some research, (this was a news story on tendo box BTW) and found that the domain mario-net.net had been purchased by a company under the name Marionette Ltd.
Now it doesn't take a genius to put two and two together (though it's amazing how often we make five :-) )
But to me that suggests that the yet to be revealed Mario launch game may well make use of Nintendos online capabilities.
We certainly should expect some kind on announcement regarding Nintendo online, given that we already know that Phantasy Star Online is being released.
Maybe next months Spaceworld will shed a little more light on this?
Mario online would be nice... but I can't see it happening.
