???
It suggests downloading the latest firmware from here http://www.netmag.co.uk/downloads/default.asp?pagetypeid=2&articleid=17904&subsectionid=486 and says it fixes it by "The fix works by flashing the firmware in the drive, the little chip inside that gets the drive and your PC talking to each other."
Flashing firmware?
Now I can enter a DOS session, and the readme says to do the following:
1. At DOS prompt type:
c:\flashup 1102U00B.dld /*
(Where '*' is the IDE position of the drive)
Primary Master : 0
Primary Slave : 1
Secondary Master : 2
Secondary Slave : 3
----
My question is, how do I know which IDE position my CD drive is?
Anybody help, cos I know zip about this

Not exclusivly, I have the five disc CD edition.
* Hold the windows key (between left-ctrl and left-alt and press break)
* On the dialog that appears, go to the Hardware tab, and click the Device Manager button
* In the Device Manager, find the section for IDE ATA/ATAPI Controllers, and expand it.
If you have one controller listed here:
* Right-click on the controller, and select Properties
* On the dialog that appears, select the Primary and Secondary Channel tabs, and look for any reference to the CD drive you want to flash. For instance, mine is the Slave device on the Primary channel.
If you have two controllers listed in the Device Manager:
* Right-click and select Properties on the first one. On the dialog that appears, look for any reference to your CD drive.
* If you don't find your CD drive on the first controller, close it's properties dialog and right-click and select properties on the second controller. You should find a reference to your CD drive there.
Something on one of these dialogs should tell you whether your CD drive is primary slave, secondary master or secondary slave (I'm pretty sure it can't be the primary master).
