Could anyone point me to where how I play VCDs on a playstation (old school type)

I understand an adaptor is needed but does anywhere in the UK sell one?

BALLS! VCDs are region-coded in a way. I know this because an American VCD just came up with a red screen but I borrowed a friend's UK VCD to test it and it worked.

I agree, the quality of vcd is pretty good although the films i bought were'nt that cheap. I think i paid around £10 + p&p from some yank firm. Does anyone know of a uk based company dealing in them. If they're cheaper, then there're well worth purchasing them, especially if the films are yet to be released on dvd. I've had episode 1 on vcd for ages, well before its video release. although i believe it's out on dvd in sept (region 1)

I've got an old playstation but does anyone know the name of the adaptor needed, who makes it or even who sells it?

VCD's aren't too bad if watched on a TV. Watch it on a computer monitor, though, and you'll see that they're pretty poor - especially compared to DVD.

Actually, VCDs are pretty good.

They are digital (so no fuzzy video quality) and they are cheaper than DVDs.

To play VCD's on a Playstation you need one of the old types not a PS1. you then buy an adapter which will allow you to play them.

VCD's are not region coded. You therefore don't need a multi-region player to play them. PS2 cannot play vcd's full stop whether you have a british vcd or not, not that region has anything to do with it! I would be surprised if region X will let you play vcd's, unless they have provided a seperate driver. I have a quite a few vcd's and they're nothing special. the quality is just like a video cassette and most films come on 2 or 3 discs so it means disc swapping. they do come out on vcd well before any british release date though

It will only play UK VCDs, of which there aren't very many. The DVD Region X might let you though. I think Datel make it. Let's face it, they make everything!
