I thought it was so cool, with that cracking theme tune.
Edward Woodward wasn't just hard, he was double hard!
The story wold normally be something like some girl was being stalked by some guy, because her dad had left her some money, and he had debts, or something.
Edward Woodward would then track down the guy, and give him some stiff words.
"You will not go near her. If you see her coming towards you on the street, you will cross over. If you do not you will have me to answer to. Do I make myself clear."
Despite this though, they'd always cross the line, so double-hard Woodward would have to go get them. More often than not he'd end up shooting them in some dark old abandoned warehouse, or block of flats, or the back end of an underground train.
I loved this show. It ruled.
I was quite shocked when a few years later (after watching re-runs of the Equilizer that were now quite old) I saw some series on BBC 1 about some binmen, and Woodward was one of them. He looked really old and fat. I was shocked, and somewhat surprised.
To me though he'll always be double-hard Woodward, equilizing the odds. Man that show was cool.
"I'm Edward Woodwood"
"Sorry to hear that"
"What?"
"Oh, I thought you farted in the bath"
