Just picked it up for a bargin on play. When do you get to go back to the previous missons with the new unlocked weapons? I can only seem to keep plodding on mission after mission. Do you have to finish the game first?

That's usually the case.
Seems a bit annoying then, as in the second game, you could choose your wepons at the begining of the mission, using any previously collected weapons!
Once you've complete a level you can go back to it and use any of the weapons you've picked up. Load up your game then go back to the main menu and choose start game then select current game and you'll get a list of all the levels you've completed, from there you can choose which guns you want to use on the level.

Ah ha! Sounds to easy, therefore missed it! Cheers Tiltawhirl will give it a bash tonight!
