There are so many great games from past and present that are popular world-wide, but when you start to look closely at what is happening in some games you may find some things rather strange.
Take what most would say as being the first proper console game "mario bros" why would a plumber eat big mushrooms that make him grow taller, seems strange to me, who's idea was that. This dosn't make the game bad, its a great game and maybe encouraged kids to eat mushrooms who knows?

Its the same with sonic the hedgehog, why does he collect rings? nuts maybe but why rings?

So why do developers put things like this into games? Is it to make people realise that they are different from real life? I think its quite amusing to see these kind of additions to games.

Just as a little extra, whats the best multiplayer of all time?
1. Mario Kart
2.Super Bomberman
3.Goldeneye
4.thrill kill (for those that own or have played it)
5.something else (name it please)

Thrill Kill's well good and as for Mario I heard it's based on a Japanese legend or sommin like that but i think they added the mushroom kingdom and the flower power.

Although, lets be fair... if you need Sonic to be collecting rings before you realise the game isnt real life, then you've got bigger fish to fry than wonder why they have chosen them? ;)

Mmm... rings? ... Maybe hes a randy hedgehog?

Yeah, you'd have thought that Mario would have collected pipe fittings or something, but the idea about the mushroom presumably came from Alice in Wonderland, where eating a mushroom made her grow big (or was that drinking the potion?).

As for Sonic? Leaves would have been better, after all, that's what hedgehogs collect. But maybe those guys at Sega had never seen a hedgehog before, or else they were eating too many mushrooms to think straight when developing the game.

Best multiplayer of all time is, quite naturally, either bridge or chess.

On a console/PC I'd choose either Smash TV, Fifa '98, TOCA 2, Tiger Woods Golf, Bomberman, Planetarion, Quake III or Unreal Tournament.

Yes i have never thought of that before. Or big head modes. There is another funny thing in some games. Goldeneye has the best multiplayer followed by Worms.
