Erm mine does it automatically, it records your saved data.

If you're playing through the mini-games you can't stop mid way... that'll just be too easy.

when i finish a stage and i'm back at the main menu i turn it off.
and when i turn it back on again i re-enter my name, and have to do the first level again. does this mean there may be a fault with my copy?

Hmmmm from what I remember it saved everything automatically... every time i do something I turn it off and all the data is saved.

Check the manuel and hopefully some helpful forum dude will back me up.

If you are playing one or just a select handful of 3 second minigames before turning it off. When you get back to the main menu, which you can leave forever without it changing, then its safe to turn off and your data will be recorded, if I remember.

You definitely shouldn't have to re-enter your name. once it's in, it's in, unless you take the option to change it.

Heh, just dug this out for a quick go - still has it's charm :D

And yes, you shouldn't need to do anything. Autosave all the way for me...
