I have a 512K cable modem from Telewest Blueyonder, absolutely brilliant!!! Highly recommended, and yes, it only costs my dad £25.

I've got a 512k connection from NTL, and had nothing but trouble with it so far. When it works, yeah, it's great..but that's very erratic. I know it's not my pc, I've tried it on 3 different ones with the same results, giving me pings in the thousands, very slow web pages, and connections being cut off...actually slower than my old dial-up.
I've asked NTL about this a few times, always get "Yes, there are problems in your area. We are aware of them and are currently working to resolvle them". I'd move to BT, but adsl isn't available around here. Gah.
