We all know how marketing can drastically change the fate of a console. And only too well we know how far marketing spreads. From typical magazine ads to Television ads to logos on football strips, even to Skate Ramps, marketing gets everywhere. But IMHO, there is still one area which game related marketing has not penetrated – music singles.

Here is my evil plan. One company (hopefully Nintendo, more likely Sony) hires a DJ mixing guy to make a record advertising their machine. They give him or her, unlimited access to the sound effects from every game on the machine. The DJ makes a track in the style of Avalanches – lots of samples dubbed together to make a cool track.

Say its Nintendo who send a spy to this forum and steal this idea. You could start the track by having Navi (of Zelda fame) say ‘Hey, listen!’ as she does frequently throughout the game. Then some sort of basic beat could start in the background, and you could have an assortment of ‘Its-a-me, Mario’s, ‘LOOK OUT!’s from Wave Race, and ‘I don’t wanna die!’s from Perfect Darks cowardly guards. Of course, Conker would have to get a look in, and so a ‘F**k off’ from the cog would be implemented.

Pikachu: Pika!
CBFD Cog: F**k off!

Wave Race announcer: Welcome to Sunny Beach!
CBFD Cog: F**k off!

Slippy from Lylat Wars: Hey! Whats the big idea?
CBFD Cog: F**k off!

Worm from Worms Armageddon: I’ll get you.
CBFD Cog: F**k off!

Sniper: This topic is unoriginal…
CBFD Cog: F**k off!

Oh, the hilarity. Anyway, maybe this would get rid of the Nintendos ‘kiddie’ image.

Thanks for reading (or just skipping though to the end, as most people do).

The first ever disco I went to had the mario Land tune playing in the back ground, some rap group tried to release a remix last year but they couldn't buy the sample so they got taken to court.

The tetris one was excellent. I strongly recommend eveyone get hold of a copy. You'll find it on 'Now 23'.

If you do one thing this summer, you hear that song.

They already have done. Can't anyone remember the disco versions of the Tetris theme and Super Mario Land?
