Okay, I nothing about Flash but are those 5000 lines of commented HTML really necessary?
if the site is really big you could probably do with making a preloader for the website. Ask me about that if you need help.
When you open the site on the internet does it just stay blank- and when you right click does it say FLASH LOADING. If it does - then you need a preloader.

I have the full MX suite package,
am now getting to grips with fireworks / dreamweaver in detail, any chance of some (relevant)flash tutorials. I did basics but scripting seemed too long and involved to do basic things!!!!

Within the main12abc1.swf flash file, have you set the reference to the flash file you see on your computer correct? It might be listed as C:\My Document\MyFlash.swf rather than just MyFlash.swf or http://www.mysite.com/MyFlash.swf.
