We have recently received a Nintendo 64 from the US and want to play it on a standard UK television.

I have a step down transformer for the power so that is not a problem. Connecting using the 3 leads provided (L & R audio and video)to the TV gives a picture but in black and white. I have tried using a playstation SCART lead which fits the N64 but using this the picture rolls and is also in black and white.

I can run a US playstation on the same TV without any problems using a Playstation SCART lead.

If anyone knows how to get a decent picture, please let me know!

Is it the case of just buying a SCART lead specifically for the N64 or will this not work due to it being a US N64??

Thanks
Mike

The PS scart lead fitted into the N64 without any problems but didn't work - rolling picture and no colour.

I might try using an official N64 Scart lead and see if that does the trick (as my UK PSX scart lead did work with the US PSX).

I bought my step-down transformer from a local Electrical store for around £25.00.
I think you can also buy them from most branches of Tandy.

I assume that UK N64 games would not work on the US system anyway. If we can get it to work we will have to look for second hand US imports in the UK or else shop directly from the US.

It probably is. How did you get your PS scart lead to fit in your N64?

How much do step down transformers cost?

Thanks

I think that you's definately need an n64 specific scart lead from the US (unless they're the same oevr here). It's always the case with imports.
