Has anyone seen the original Hannibal film based on the book, Red Dragon. Anthony Hopkins didn't play Hannibal Lector. It was Brian Cox (haha Game, he is Scottish).

Anyway, apparently, they are thinking of remaking this film with Anthony Hopkins in the role of Red Dragon. However, I thought Red Dragon was the serial killer, not Hannibal. I'm not entirely sure because I've never read the book but I'm pretty confident that the serial killer writes a letter in the film saying that he is 'The Red Dragon'. Strange...

This film was not as good as Silence of the Lambs but it was still pretty damn good and I can't say whether it was better then Hannibal or not because I've never seen it. Oh, but how I want to see it. How I NEED to see it!

Has anybody else heard any news on this?

And if you've seen both Hannibal and Silence of the Lambs, then please say which is the better film so I know what to expect when I finally see it (i.e the day it is released on DVD). Thanks.

Oh well. It will look nice among my other DVD titles, especially Silence of the Lambs.

Hannibal was a huge disappointment. Don't expect Silence of the Lambs part two -Lector has been turned into 'Super Hannibal, The Greatest Action Hero in the World'.

The plot is bad, the characters are bad, the film is even worse than the terrible novel on which it is based. The infamous ending is totally unconvincing. Basically, I don't recommend this film!

Silence of the lambs is a far better film than Hannibal. I don't know if i think this because i have read the Hannibal book and Ridley Scott the director had David Mamet rewrite and ruin the ending. I haven't seen the first of the trilogy, known as Manhunter but i want to buy it. I have read that Lector is spelt differently in the first film, i don't know if that means they are seperate people or if it was a mistake. They spell it Lecktor. Hannibal is out on dvd on the 21st august in case you wanted to pre-order. Might be a bit early mind.

I've heard that Gary Oldman is unrecognisable. The make-up is brilliant (apparently).

Silence of the lambs is better than Hannibal, but Hannibal the book is better than silence of the lambs!!! It is more grusome than Silence of the Lambs and one of the scenes is really sick, but very cool, but I wont give the game away, just quite yet!!
