After the succesful release of the GameBoy Advance many people have stated that sony may well create a handheld console of its own to compete with nintendo. But that dosn't look likely anymore.

Sony have a better idea up their sleve, they plan to make games for mobile phones. Last year saw a great increase in mobile phones and games on mobile phones when everything was monochrome and there was no JAVA. now JAVA is available on phones and also in full colour so it would be possible to have good looking games on your phone.

You will have to pay for these games, ie they aren't given free on your phone like snake.
We probably won't see this for quite some time, im sure it will be on the Next Generation mobile phones which are still in the design stage but once these are ready we will no doubt see sonys attempts to conquer another market.

Mobile phones are extremely popular and everyone seems to own one. Now imagine instead of playing snake or that stupid memory thing, you could play PSX games on your mobile. Now that would be something. Guess we will just have to wait to see if this does happen or if sony decide on something else.

I am not sure on weather Sony should go along with the idea of having games on your mobile phone. I guess it would be kind of good, but is it necessary?

Although I want technology to get better are Sony heading in the right direction? I really do think that Sony would do better off in making their own handheld. I know that are put off because of their disaster with the one they released in Japan (can’t remember the name)

Anyway, I don’t think that making games on mobile phones is the way forward for Sony, at least not yet anyway. They need to get the PS2 firmly on tracks before they do anything else.

The only plus point I will give this idea is that mobile phones are owned by a third of the population so Sony don’t have to worry about people not buying the machine.
