I know this is an age old arguement, but there is something that I believe I need to say about the current stated of affairs. Personally, I like PCs, because, in my opinion, all the decent PC games around never come out on consoles. However, of course some people like consoles.

My point, though, is that while PCs are upgradable, and this is often seen as one of their good qualities over consoles, upgrading them (beyond expanding RAM/Graphics card) is usually pointless. In 1997, I could buy a playstation. I could also buy a 16MB, P166 PC.

The playstation, despite no-longer being an up to date console, still has new games on it, and until very recently, sales have beaten the PS2.

The PC on the other hand, is so old that it can't run anything. Upgrading it beyond an MMX 200Mhz would be expensive, I would need a new motherboard, case, and essentially a new PC.

Therefore, it is all very well to say that a console limits you to current technology, but it also limits manufacturers, who won't go off making games that need state of the art systems, simply because they aren't available!

also you can have better resolutions if you wanted....i don;t particularly like the blur of the graphics on the tv screen when playing a console (that is of course unless you got a vga adaptor and plug it to a pc monitor but not all games work with it)....

the pc also has much better online gaming as well...

Of course they're designed for games, you fool! SR's MAXX PC's are mainly games machines. The reason you think that is because they can do so much more other than just play games.

Some are designed for games, maybe your one isn't, full-stop.

I used to use my PC for games back in the days of ignition and Blood but to be honest I don't think PC's are designed for video games, Although they have some pretty sweet titles most of the games are either point and click (C&C) or first person shooters like Quake.

I just couldn't be bothered setting up the game and fixing the so problems along the way, with consoles you just plug and play and i think thats it strong point not to mention the price difference.

If Pc's cost the same as consoles, and I was offered a free PC or console, I would choose 9 times out of ten the PC.

The PC is so flexible. You can upgrade things as you said. Whereas a console is stuck. In 5, maybe ten years when the PS2 has been worn down, you would want to go and buy another, brand new, expensive console. With a PC you only have to buy some cheaper upgrades parts, and there ya go, they're the same again.

Eventually though you will have to buy a new PC, because you've upgraded it so much it can't be upgraded anymore, but that will be yonks after you would have to buy a new console.

See what I'm getting at? Good.
