Finally we could be saying goodbye to those annoying loading screens with the little bar that changes colour.
It's not as bad as it used to be, I remember when games took 30 mins to load and the tape machine made an annoying sound while it loaded. Now its different, games load within a couple of minutes and have short loading screens during the game. but is this still to long?

Looks like things could be changing though. Naughty dog, creators of Crash Bandicoot, are set to release a new game called Jak & Daxter. In this game they have managed to program the game in such a way that It loads what is to come next while you are playing it. This idea if it is brought into use by the other developers could see the end of the loading screen that can spoil a good game if it is too long.

A friend of mines says that Quake 3 has alot of loading in it and this can spoil the game, you spend to long waiting on it to load that you become bored too easy,it can be annoying that it takes so long. There are alot of games like this that could be improved in this way. I predict that it is only a matter of time before the other developers start using this idea too.

The HDD will not be supported ny a lot of developers who aren't using the Internet connection as they would alienate the people who do not want the HDD!!

The hard drive will most likely have quicker access speed than loading times so we can probably store most of the game on the hard drive and run it straight from there. I don't mind old games like ridge racer and Tekken for their mini retro games to keeo you entertained while they load, I love those hehe.

If they do, then they will have managed to overcome one of the major design issues of the PS2, Naughty Dog mainly managed it because Sony bought them, so they had insight into the latest programming techniques from the PS2 boffins!!

It is very cool. Do you think the other developers will start using the same idea?

I think that you amy need to be informed that this is possible due to the hardware design of the PS2, the data can be loaded into it's pipelines, rather than memory so it can be streamed straight off of the disc, cool huh??
